Grieving for my cat is…

animal bereavement support Lynne Pion cat paw pet LossThis presence that I miss
This absent sweetness under my fingers
Its soft paws on my face and my arms
Its purrs which are no more.

My cat’s mourning is…
The absence of its meows which answered me
This warmth on my legs which warmed me
These morning and evening routines which no longer exist
This unconditional and independent love lost.
Grieving for my cat is also…
Realizing the happiness
We’ve brought to each other
Remembering beautiful memories
Thinking of him.
Think back to his « contortions »
and have a giggle.
Grieving for my cat is also…
Thanking life for having met it. -Excerpt from the book  » Taming animal mourning  » by Lynne Pion- Do you feel the need to be accompanied in your mourning? Taming Animal Mourning Promo Book Lynne Pion.png
